Have ya noticed how pretty much EVERY SINGLE TIME Donald Trump has to deal with the court system – and juries especially – HE LOSES. There are REAMS OF DATA to back this up: LOOSING is the one thing Trump does consistently.
Same thing with elections. Trump LOSES THEM CONSISTENTLY, too. 2020 is the shiningest example of course. But Trump even lost mid-term elections he should have won – if we were living through normal history. Ah, but there’s the rub. Nothing about these here times is normal – and our news media needs to stop treating them like they are – even as they squawk about how abnormal it all is.
The thing is, the news media still flips right into horse race mode when they start talking about the presidential election. Suddenly, the fact that a convicted felon is now running one of our two political parties is just “how it is”. And both sides do it, don’tcha know!
No, American News Media, both sides don’t do “it” and never, ever have. And, please – define “it”.
This cynical, corporate journalistic pose is a cancer upon real journalism. It has blinded America’s news media to the greatest story anyone might ever get to cover – even as they reported the juicy details.
Even basic storytelling demands that the storyteller AGGREGATE the story details. Each scene must build on the new information delivered in the scene before. Our news media has consistently failed to do that with Trump. When he was POTUS, he lied to the news media EVERY DAMNED DAY – and they knew it.
But, it took the news media upwards of THIRTY THOUSAND LIES to finally call this professional liar a “liar”.
IOW, up until that moment, they mis-reported Trump. They failed at their jobs. And America continues to pay the price.
Yeah, our news media has reported an awful lot of the worst parts of this story – and yet, they seem to forget that they reported it.
That’s what comes from failing to aggregate your story…
As we’re going to learn, he did not “win” the 2016 election if we define “winning freely and fairly” as NOT having the direct assistance of a hostile foreign government (or two) GETTING YOU ELECTED.
And the GOP KNEW PUTIN PAID TRUMP even before they nominated him to be their presidential nominee in 2016.
The Washington Post reported it! And then… they failed to follow up… and then they totally forgot about it.
Instead of the actual story of what happened, our news media prefers polls.
That’s despite the fact that the polls have been wrong about almost everything since Trump entered our political picture. That’s not because of “secret Trump voters” – no such people exist. They were invented by the polling companies (and then bought wholesale by he news media) to try and explain how the polls could have been so wrong about 2016.
It wasn’t that the polls were wrong, they were asking the wrong questions and measuring the wrong metrics!
Who won the election for Trump in 2016? Russia.
Russia didn’t just “attempt to influence” the election (as our news media likes to say). That, all by itself should demand FAR GREATER SCRUTINY. Shouldn’t some intrepid reporter at least have the intrepidness to ask “how that manifest itself in actions”?
Stone cold fact: Russia absolutely, positively changed the outcome of election 2016 – in ways direct and indirect.
Paul Manafort helped make that happen when he gave Oleg Deripaska proprietary polling data for PA, WI & MI – that Russia’s GRU (its military intelligence) turned into weaponized FB ads that showed up on the personal pages of Black voters in PA, WI & MI. The point – make those voters STAY HOME because they believed HRC was a racist on the downlow.
Lying ads aren’t a crime in and of themselves. But if the source of the ads is a hostile foreign intelligence service acting in concert with a presidential candidate?
THAT IS A CRIME!!!
And THAT is what happened in 2016. THAT is what Trump & the GOP have moved heaven and earth – and the SCOTUS – to keep inn the shadows.
All through these past eight years, we have slowly NORMALIZED TREASON. We have accepted as “normal” things that aren’t. We’ve equated political acts (what the Democrats do) with criminal acts for a political end – the GOP playbook).
Trump loses court cases and elections because those are the last places Trump’s been able to corrupt. A third of America would follow Trump off a cliff.
That is exactly what’s going to happen to them.
At some point, Trump will cease to exist. Who will take his place at the helm of this corrupt enterprise? No one. Being a corrupt enterprise, the corrupt will fight amongst themselves.
It is incumbent on us to PROSECUTE every last bit of this.
If we don’t, we will have planted the seeds for the next attempt. And then, we might be the ones losing consistently.
