Last night Elon Musk demonstrated (yet again) that not only is he a rich, white sociopath, he’s the poster boy for Rich, White Sociopaths!

Even before he got to last night, Elon has consistently demonstrated a sociopath’s consistent disregard for right and wrong or the rights and feelings of others. Take the way he took over Twitter (never mind WHY he took it over). As he walked in the company’s door as it’s new owner, he began firing people. As the WaPo put it: “The trifling way it dismissed employees was akin to breaking up with someone over a text message. It was disrespectful and insensitive. It demonstrated a blatant lack of empathy.”

“A blatant act of empathy” – kinda like a sociopath.

Yet again, last night (at the New York Times DealBook Summit), Elon showed off his blatant lack of empathy.

First, he apologized for sending out an antisemitic tweet (or whatever they’re called now on Twitter/X’s smoldering remains). Then, almost in the same breath, he told his advertisers to go eff themselves because they don’t want to stand with antisemites.

Geez, for a spectrum-y guy, famously incapable of reading other people at all, Elon sure has most of the world’s people right where he wants us. Hanging on his every word as if they glittered with wisdom. Alas, Elon’s every word glitters with bullshit and sociopathy instead. Elon accused Disney’s Bob Iger of blackmailing him. Because Disney – heavily reliant on a particular image and branding – doesn’t want to risk that incredibly valuable asset advertising on Elon’s platform. Because Elon has allowed white supremacist, racist, bigoted brands to flourish there.

Money & Bamboozlement

It really isn’t complicated. Elon doesn’t care about anybody but Elon. Whatever skills he has as an engineer – if he really has any – they’re entirely overshadowed by the fact that Elon has zero skills as a human being who has to live among other human beings. Take away Elon’s money and who would Elon be? What would Elon have made of himself? If we took away all his money right now, could Elon really make a buck – never mind earn it – all by himself?

Let’s remind ourselves – Elon didn’t start from scratch. He hit the ground wealthy. Yeah, he turned that wealth into the world’s biggest single pile of personal wealth unlike his pal Donald Trump. Trump took daddy’s money and blew it all. Elon OTOH has MADE tons of dough from daddy’s starter stash.

Problem is, the majority of the money in Elon’s pocket actually belongs in other peoples’ pockets. If Elon has any particular “genius”, like every other rich, white sociopath, it’s the ability to bamboozle others into thinking their money belongs in Elon’s pocket. Same goes for Trump. Though the press has reported endlessly about Trump’s lying, corruption, incompetence, senility and ignorance, they still buy the bullshit that Trump is who and what he says he is.

She gets shell shocked the instant Trump shotguns the bullshit. From start to finish, it’s an embarrassment. They should teach it at every Journalism school as the ultimate journalism “what not to do”. They won’t, of course.

Our news media has, themselves, written repeatedly about Trump’s obvious sociopathy.

In fact, America is now drowning in rich, white sociopathy. The GOP made it its mission to remold the Supreme Court into a bastion for the stuff! What was Sam Alito ripping away Roe’s protections from America’s women if not rich, white sociopathy?

Hell, what is Clarence Thomas if not another poster boy for rich, white sociopathy – and it’s amazing power to bamboozle?
