Our intrepid news media (my sarcasm font’s working, right?) still asks the bone-headed question “Why does Donald Trump have such a hold on the Republican Party?” They’re oblivious of the fact that they themselves exposed that truth eons ago. Way back at the start of this madness. If only they ever read their own copy. Trump’s always been a bad bet if you wanted to make money legitimately. It’s not how Trump rolls. He keeps proving it, too, by costing his pals and supporters great hairy gobs of money! It’s damned expensive being a “Trumpanista”.
I mentioned above that the news media itself coulda/shoulda shut this down in the early days of TrumpCo. The Washington Post reported in 2017 about a meeting that took place in 2016 wherein the Republican Party’s leadership 1) admitted to knowing that Vladimir Putin paid Trump and 2) made a collective decision to keep that terrible secret a secret.
The majority of the Jan 6 insurrectionists pled guilty rather than go to trial. Going to trial is very expensive. Those are really, really expensive billable hours and there are only so many GoFundMe dollars to go around.
Every single insurrectionist already in the system or doomed to land there will have to do some calculus. Bankrupt the family for a generation at least or turn on Trump. More and more and more of them will see turning on Trump as an easy choice.
Also, at some point, Jack Smith will peel back all the layers of this massive conspiracy. He’ll reveal how Roger Stone connected groups like the Proud Boys to Trump and also how the money flowed from donors to the insurrectionists on the ground. Planning took place. There were hard costs that the insurrectionists themselves couldn’t bear.
So, who did? Someone paid for the insurrection. In fact, plenty of “someone’s”.
Even now, we’re learning about a thick file folder filled with damning evidence connecting Trump to Russia. The folder and its contents have gone missing. How shocking (my sarcasm font’s still working, year?).
This has always been about Trump selling America out to Russia while the GOP both watched and even helped out in significant ways. Perhaps they all hope to – eventually – make back what it’s cost them just to be Trumpanistas.
What else to call these soulless, spineless miscreants who hate Trump personally but love his “policies” (his corruption, actually) because it benefits them financially? These people are a blight on everything from their families to humanity in general.
But, there is cause for hope – that Trump will get his comeuppance instead of his way. For Trump, it’s always about money. How many pennies can he scrounge? His one ambition in life is to have the biggest pile of cash of everyone. He uses money to measure everything.
That’s what makes it so damned hilarious! Just being Trump – or one of his “friends” is expensive beyond all reasonable measure.

Didja get that running tally so far? $2,440,500,000 Trumpanistas (including Trump) are in the hole because of Trump or because they wanted to curry favor with Trump. That’s two TRILLION, four-hundred-forty million bucks!
This is the only way forward. Making Trumpanistas live-on-the-streets broke will teach them things no book ever could. Reality. And these bastards all need shock doses of reality.
